Welcome to our 2014 District 32 Website
Here we go again. Another year and another set of new memories for all. For the most part our managers, coaches and players have conducted themselves in a very respectful manner. That being said, we expect no different form of conduct during our 2014 Williamsport Tournament.
As a reminder, the Tournament is only a small part of the Little League program. It represents the opportunity for boys and girls to learn sportsmanship and fair play. During District play teams will play against other towns in our area. The winners will play against other towns on Long Island and the Long Island winners will then play against teams from all over New York State. After that, the winners will play against teams from our part of the country and even have the opportunity to play for a World Championship.
Although the Williamsport Tournament is great fun for the selected players, let us not forget what Little League is really about. It is our Regular season program where children, regardless of ability, learn to participate and reap the benefits of understanding that winning isn’t everything. It is programs such as Tee Ball where that new uniform is cherished by the children as they begin their dreams. Seeing their eyes light up has always made my heart skip a beat. It is programs such as the Challenger Division where special children play the game they love and enjoy every moment. It is the dedicated parents, coaches and many volunteers that are the true spirit of the Little League program. That is what Little League is all about !!!!
To all – I just hope you will keep things in their proper perspective and understand that baseball and softball are only games. The lasting lifetime experience each child will receive is most important. Making that a positive part of their growing years is all one can ask for.
As a closing note, I'd like to thank everyone I've known over the years for allowing me to be part of the Little League program for 40 years. With that being said, I have decided to retire after this season and hope that my successor has as much enjoyment as the new District 32 District Administrator as I have had.
